Sales and Marketing Internship

Each semester the Marketing department at the Mullins Center will hire one full time intern (30-40 Hours per week) to serve as the marketing coordinator for the Mullins Center. The responsibilities for the marketing coordinator include but are not limited to the four departments listed below. In addition to the one full time position, the marketing department will hire one part-time intern for each of the departments listed below. The marketing coordinator will be responsible for the management of that staff.

As you can see by the number of hours required for the marketing coordinator position, this internship is a unique opportunity to get real world full-time experience that will be useful in any marketing position. While general office duties are a requirement of the position, the internship really allows for a hands-on learning experience.    

MARKETING INTERN (15-20 Hours Per Week)

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist the marketing director in creating awareness for all events at the Mullins Center.
  • Assist with grassroots marketing,
  • Designing artwork for ads and collateral material
  • Database management.
  • Various event day responsibilities

PUBLIC RELATIONS (10-15 Hours Per Week)

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Create, develop, and facilitate PR events that help bring exposure and awareness of Mullins Center, upcoming shows, Global Spectrum, and the University of Massachusetts.
  • Organizing press kits
  • Assist with press conferences
  • Write press releases
  • Distribute event listings to the press
  • Various event day responsibilities

CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS (10-15 Hours per Week)

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist the Director of Marketing in the selling of all advertising/signage in the building as well as event sponsorships. 
  •  Assist in the development and management of associations with new clients and maintaining present clients.
  •  Work on support services projects and added value through VIP promotions, exclusive events, etc.
  • Create, implement and assist in all information designed to increase awareness of the sponsorship and VIP opportunities.
  • Various event day responsibilities

GROUP SALES (10-15 Hours per Week)

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist the Director of Marketing with soliciting, managing and maintaining group sales accounts for the Mullins Center.
  • Assist with the development of Direct Mail pieces and their mailings.
  • Perform general customer service duties.
  • Make sales calls to promote shows and gain group ticket sales.
  • Assist with day-to-day group sales operations: makes sales calls, set appointments with clients.
  • Various event day responsibilities
