Operations Changeover Crew

 Primary Responsibilities Include:
 
  • Changing over Arena from Basketball Events, Hockey Events, Concerts and Theatre Programs to the next event.
  • Light cleaning when necessary.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs consistently.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
 
Qualified applicants must be able to work in a team environment. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Event Staff
Job Title:         Event Staff        

Reports to:      Event Coordinator
 
Summary:      First lines of contact between building and patrons, assuring those in attendance have an enjoyable time. 
 
Job Functions:

Ushers: Assist patrons in finding their seats quickly and to give directions to venue facilities. Also watch the crowd during events for problems.

Door Guards: Provide security and maintain surveillance of doorways, entrances, exits, or other areas assigned.

Ticket Takers: Greet, check, direct. Receive an admission ticket or acknowledge that appropriate admission pass or credential to a specific event from a patron and allow that patron passage into the arena. Screening of patrons for cameras/video equipment and other non-permitted items.

Peer Security: Provide security for the back stage area including performer dressing rooms. Assist in crowd control and help ushers.

All other duties as assigned by Event Supervisors or management.
 
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends a must.
  • Position requires strong customer service skills with the ability to work in a team environment.

 Box Office Internship

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Open and close Box Office
  • Prepare DTAs
  • Receive reports from UCard to verify sales
  • Handle customer service issues with tellers
  • Assist tellers with customer transactions and answering phones
  • Assist Manager with cashing out tellers and verifying sales
  • Handle internal ticket requests and handicap accessible sales
  • Assist Box Office Manager with complying with promoter request (reclassing seats, opening up more seats, printing comp tickets) 
  • Keep teller books up-to-date with events, prices, seating charts
  • Reconciliations

Events Responsibilities:

  • Supervise as tellers sell, addressing any issues thay may arise
  • Assist Manager with cashing out tellers and verify sales
  • Print audits for the event to go with DTAs 

Qualifications:

  • Junior/Senior (will consider underclassment with qualified experience)
  • Sport Management, Finance, or Business Major
  • Knowledge of computers, especially Excel a must
  • Knowledge of Ticketmaster a plus, but not required
  • Some form of money handling experience helpful

Available Internship/Hour Requirements:

  • Internships will be offered in Fall and Spring semesters.
  • Prefer full-time internship, but willing to work around 1 or 2 classes or a M/W/F internship scheudle
  • Internships do not need to be taken for credit, but it is preferred.

Mullins Center Event Services Internship

One part-time position available (10-40 hours per week) during the Fall and Spring semesters

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Assist with scheduling of event staff.
  • Assist with event staff employment procedures and policies.
  • Assist with event day procedures.
  • Assist with function room responsibilities.
  • Assist with inventory market research.
  • Assist with event pre-settlements and settlements.
  • Revise Event Staff Supervisor and Event Staff training procedure.

Requirements:

  • Word processing
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and breaks

 Marketing Internships

Marketing internships are available in marketing, public relations, sponsorship sales, and group sales.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support various marketing efforts for all Mullins Center events
  • Draft press releases to promote events and the facility
  • Create and circulate press kits and media drops
  • Manage PR events and media contacts
  • Assist with sponsorship sales and fulfillment of advertising contracts
  • Assist with group ticket sales efforts
  • Assist with grassroots efforts such as distributing fliers and hanging posters
  • Various event day responsibilities

Requirements:

  • Junior or Senior (willing to consider Freshman and Sophomores with experience)
  • Sport Management, Marketing, Communications, Management, or Hospitality Major
  • Minimum of 10-15 hours per week
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Photoshop
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed

Mullins Center Ice Rink Internship

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for the booking and scheduling ice time for numerous UMass groups and the general public.
  • Maintain and update public rink calendar on both facility website and hard copy distribution.
  • Develop and execute contracts for each individual user.
  • Properly maintain ice surface in practice rink as well as main arena to insure optimal ice quality.
  • Weekly and monthly maintenance of the Zamboni’s.
  • Monitoring rink air quality and maintaining a log.
  • All general maintenance and duties assigned by the Ice Rink Manager.

Skills desired:

  • Highly motivated, self-starter.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organization skills.

Requirements:

  • Junior or Senior Management or Sport Management major.
